Our Vision

The Campaign

The Government of Jamaica has recognized the need for an integrated system of education, from the early childhood level to the tertiary level to help transform our country. The Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Early Childhood Commission (ECC) are both promoting a comprehensive approach that involves families and communities in the design, delivery and evaluation of programmes at the early childhood education and care level. This approach emphasizes an understanding by all stakeholders of their role and responsibility in ‘starting our children right for learning.’

But this vision can never be fully realized by an under-resourced public sector.  Well thinking Jamaicans understand that we must invest in our children and families to ensure long term benefits- a more vibrant and healthy nation and workforce. If we fail to answer this call, we will continue to be faced with increased delinquency, dysfunctional families, educational inadequacies in our work pool, low productivity, and reduced economic competitiveness.

The Union Gardens Foundation has committed to raising the standard of early childhood education in Jamaica through private-public sector partnerships that will see construction of world class learning facilities for our youngest citizens.  We encourage all Jamaicans – at home and abroad – to join us in ‘starting our children right for learning’.
